On Tuesday, October 21st, a small but dedicated group of folks gathered at the AMC River East Theater to protest “Olympic Dreams”, a Chicago Film Festival screening of propaganda intended to showcase Olympic footage and make the audience think positively of Chicago’s plan to host the 2016 Olympics. There were speakers there as well, including a young woman in high school who plans on attending the 2016 Olympics. (A sly move on their part…)
Some people went inside the theater, while some waited in the lobby and handed out informational fliers. Folks inside spoke up during the Q & A session and brought the discussion toward the communities that will be affected by the Olympics. The speakers, as expected, beat around the bush and failed to address the questions.
